Hi All Have not been here for a while. Have been away having more treatments (radiation this time) and tests to see if said treatments did some good. I am in need of prayer as I travel again tomorrow back to the cancer clinic to get the results of last tests & to meet with my oncologist to find out where we go from here. My prayer is for courage and strength to accept/deal with whatever they decide to do next. I have Jesus in my heart/life. I know He waits at the end of this journey I'm on. He has lifted me and strengthened me and carried me so often in the past few years. I praise His faithfullness. Do I show lack of faith by fearing the treatments and side-effects? I don't know. Thank you for your prayers Blessings to all toria |

Toria, You are in my prayers. I pray God will hold you in the palm of His hand as you travel and will give you strength, courage and wisdom as you review your results and ponder your next step. God bless you and keep you and your family. Kim

Hi Toria, Good to hear from you again! Sounds like you have a tough row to hoe. No I don't think it's a lack of faith to be scared. I do think that God will give you the Peace you need though, and I'll be praying for you! Blessings, Mary |

Toria, I'm glad to hear from you. I've been wondering about you and praying for you and for your husband. Thanks for letting us know about your trip and the nature of this next oncologist visit. No, I don't think you show lack of faith to fear the treatments and their effects. I will pray, though, that God will give your heart peace and will strengthen you and keep you resting in Him, aware of His presence. I will pray for the "next phase" and ask that you will have wisdom and confidence in Him. Thank you for letting us pray with you. Colleen |

Toria, It is so good to hear from you and how you are doing. It is not lack of faith to fear treatments and their effects. It is just where that fear leads you and it looks like it is leading you to God. I will continue to pray for you and your family and ask God to hold you in his awesome arms as you travel and talk to your oncologist. Thanks for the privilege of praying for you. Diana |

This request is for me. I found out to day I have high cholesterol and am hyperglycemic-diabetic. I am overweight as well. I will be seeing and talking to a dietitian tomorrow. The doctor said she does not want to put me on medication, that she thinks I can use diet and exercise to get everything to normal again. I think the same way, but I need all of your prayers. Thanks in advance. God is faithful and is so awesome. Diana |

Diana, I'll be praying for you. My mom is a dietitian who specializes in diabetic education. She does lots of lecturing on diabetes control through diet and exercise. She also helps plan out diets and exercise regimens for individual needs. I'm told she's very good . If you have any questions or concerns, you can email me at gyong01@hotmail.com and I will forward them on to my mom. Diabetes runs on my dad's side of the family. Pretty much everyone on my dad's side has it (including my dad). I've been borderline for years (with the strong family history of it, it's almost inevitable for me I'm afraid), and have to get my blood sugar checked periodically, and keep to 6 small meals a day rather than 3 large meals, etc. So I understand. Diana, I'm praying for your success using diet and exercise -- something I need to do to keep my joints happy -- and as always staying connected to our awesome Lord. I thought I'd give you an update on my ankle replacement adventures. I'm not sure if I mentioned it here, but about three months after my ankle graft was done I noticed a growing bump on my heel, I showed it to the doctor and it didn't show on the x-ray. He and his assistant opened up a small incision and removed a "fixator" that had been used in the surgery (still have one left in my foot). It was almost healed, but still had a suture in it when I started physical therapy. I have a ropey scar at the top of my foot from the surgery, so the therapist was rubbing the site to soften any adhesions, and was bracing her fingers directly on top of the suture. A few hours later I developed a fever and chills, and a trip to Emergency got me a diagnosis of cellulitis (I think the more common name for that is gangrene). I saw the doctor the next day, he took a culture and put me on clyndomicin. The following day my fever was a good deal higher and the enflamation was climbing up my leg. The site was lanced and I was then hospitalized on two different IV antibiotics for three days, and the maximum dosage of clyndomicin for 20 days after that. I'm now back at physical therapy and the heel is healing well. It is almost a bad memory now. I want to thank you for your prayers starting with the ankle graft. Life is fragile, but Jesus has given us Eternity through His precious blood. There is nothing in life or death that can separate us from his love. Belva |

Wow, reading the prayer requests makes mine look just plain pathetic, but I'm praying for each of you and know God is bigger than your pain and struggles. I need prayer because I'm having amazing allergic reactions to who knows what. The prayer is that I can stay satisfied and happy with what the Doctor is allowing me to eat for a month (beans with very little flavor, vegies and fruit except apples, and olives). Nothing else allowed. They took blood and are trying to figure out what has caused swelling and an anaphylactic reaction. The doctor said something interesting. Not knowing I was any way related to Adventists he told me that Adventists often come to him with predictable health problems because they don't eat meat, one of which was deficiency in B12 and also iron. He said vegetarianism was not all that healthy, especially if you eat preservative free non-hormone induced meats. His specialty is allergies and environmental health. Anyway, I could use your prayers as I've had an eating disorder in the past and whenever I've tried to limit certain foods I end up gorging on them out of control. Also he wants me to start eating some meat and that will be an absolute streach for me. I think I might die! Lisa

Belva, thank you for telling us how bad this has been for you. I will continue to pray for you. How frightening! I remember when you first told us about the cellulitis, but I think that was right about the time it happenedóat least I don't remember hearing these scary details! I'm so thankful you're better. Lisa, I will pray for you as well. If you want moral support re: the meat eating, email Richard at proclamation@gmail.com. He'll understand! No, I don't think you'll dieóand God is really good at providing His strength for overcoming aversions just as He is for addictions! Toria, continuing to pray for you and your husbandóand for you, too, Diana. Colleen |

Lisa, I once worked with someone whose digestive tract was under assault by every food he came in contact with, so his doctor restricted him to rice and bananas for a month, then started adding other foods back in one at a time, week by week. Be glad that you are getting something more than rice and bananas. Another thing, perhaps fish could be the first meat you consider, then work your way up to chicken. These meats have milder flavors and could possibly be less off-putting. B12 is found in greater quantities in beef, however. I have a friend who eats only fish, no beef, no pork, and no poultry. He's quite healthy, as far as I know. Another good thing to know is that you don't need to eat a whole lot of meat to get the nutrient values you need from it, something like a couple of ounces a day. |
