Grace, Thank you for the kind words. I never quite know what to say when someone thanks me after speaking. The thing is, I'm kind of like Moses (slow of speech) when it comes to one-on-one encounters and social settings. I'm a complete failure at being able to carry on conversations and such and I get quite literally physically ill in social settings. This last weekend was a real trial for me because I'm so anxious in social settings. I spent most of the time kicking myself for saying stupid or innane things. But somehow when I'm on the dais God takes all that anxiety and self-consciousness away and gives me a tongue to speak with. It's really an astonishing experience of joy, freedom, and worship. I'm probably as blessed or more blessed by the experience then those I'm speaking to. All praise, honor, and glory go to God. It was nice meeting you. Your husband in paticular looked very familiar to me although I'm not sure why. Where did the two of you go to school? Chris |

Hi Chris, We went to school at Andrews University for college, and Great Lakes Academy for high school. My husband graduated from Great Lakes Academy in 1993, and attended Andrews from 1993-1997. By the way, I never noticed that you were "socially uncomfortable". You seemed very relaxed and easy to talk with. So you play it off very well . |

Ah ha! That must be where I recognize you from! I was at Andrews in the PT program from 1991 - 1994. P.S. The years of touring with my academy drama troupe have paid off.....acting at ease while feeling like throwing up is my specialty Chris |

Chris, did you change your picture back? I can relate to your anxiety in social situations and yet I'm also able to speak easily in a lecture situation. I was suprised that at the FAF conference I was the most at ease I have ever been in a social situation, but my anxiety may have been mitigated by knowing many people in advance via the 'net. Guy |

Hey, good to "see" you Guy. I think you should be added to our Lincoln FAF list-serve now so I hope to hear from you there as well. I wish your sister would post more often.....she's such a fun person and I hardly ever get to see her anymore! I don't know what's up with the picture. I see the new one, but several have said they're still seeing the old. Who knows. The new one was taken on the Thursday before the FAF conf. The Hollywood hills are in the background. You can't see them, but my two precious daughters are each under one of my arms. I'm so happy the family could come with me. It made the trip a lot more enjoyable. Chris |

Well, I don't know if someone changed something, but on my home computer, I get the new picture. And I had refreshed at work as well. Oh, the joys of technology! Nice to "see" both of you guys. |

Ha! I have the new picture, Chris! Clicking "refresh" twice did the trickóRichard said you can also empty your cache memory, and all will be new! Chris, I agree with Grace; I'd never have guessed you're uncomfortable in social situations. Your story was wonderful. Cy, nice to "see" you here as well! We had such a great time meeting those of you who were here last weekend. Colleen |

Chris, I know someone who was in the Andrews PT program during the same time. It is amazing how Adventists run in small circles. I bet we're all connected on here through someone who knows someone we know. Seven Degrees of SDA's! Julie |

Woolie, who do you know? If they were outside of my class I might not know them because we were on very different schedules with affiliations and such. It was a brutal 3 years. Chris |

Chris, you look much more "approachable" in this picture. A sort of Saul to Paul type makeover! Honestwitness, at the beginning of this thread, you said, "Some days I'm not very good at representing the Light and I feel like my husband is being repelled instead of drawn into it." I can identify with that statement so well. My husband is not SDA, but Baptist by tradition and SDA by osmosis with me for 20 years! I really have to pray for God to "shut my mouth" most of the time, and let the Holy Spirit work. Lately I have felt like calling off the people praying for him, as he seems so agitated, "under conviction" if you will. Im trusting God that this is the storm before the calm. It is difficult to live with divided kingdoms under the same roof. I will pray for your situation. Tanya thanks for your encouraging response. JavaGirl 4excape@bellsouth.net

Chris, When you introduced yourself to me on Friday evening I would never known that you are uncomfortable in social situations. And when you gave your testimony on Saturday evening, I was blessed. I like your new picture better. It looks like you. The other one made you look older. In fact when you introduced yourself, I was surprised because I thought you were older. Looks aside, It was a blessing to meet each of you this past weekend. Thank You God for each FAFer at the reunion. You are so awesome. Diana |
