I will admit it - I am a Stargate SGI fan! I'd like to blame it on my youngest daughter - but I really can't.

Anyway... the last episode had one of the main characters being imprisoned by someone who was doing his best to brainwash him. He was able to resist the brainwashing and at the end of the show, his team leader asked him: "For future reference it would be nice to know how to resist brainwashing." Teok's reply was: "You must know yourself."

I found that statement to be quite profound. Knowing yourself means that you know what you believe and why. Brainwashing happens when we let doubt and fear in. But if you truly know who you are - and WHO you believe in - you can stand firm and not be moved.

I think this principal applies to many of us here. When we are sure of our salvation in Jesus and know that we stand covered by His blood - that nothing can take that away, we can be confident in our spiritual journey - We don't have to be defensive. We don't have to fear that our family or previous acquaintances will somehow pull us back to where we once were. I think that we will also be able to interact with our SDA family and friends with a sense of peace and love for them, without being anxious about what they might think of us.

That's my "for what it's worth" for the day. Blessings to all this Tuesday.

Really great point, Linda. I really liked these words, "we can be confident in our spiritual journey - We don't have to be defensive. We don't have to fear that our family or previous acquaintances will somehow pull us back to where we once were."

So true.

We must become so familiar with the truth that when a lie is presented we can recognize it immediately! Thy word is Truth! Thank you Lord Jesus for your Holy Word.
