Anyone want to join me in Praise?

The heavy discussions on the other threads are sucking the joy out of me! Maybe Im not ready for all the heavy stuff yet. I get weary anytime I hear any names other than Jesus or Scriptures mentioned as authorities,or any belief stated as absolute truth. Im sure that is a hold over from previous experience......

Go at it, those who are ready for debate, :-),at least there is some disagreement which seems healthy. For me, I just need the basics right now. Praise is the only thing that seems to get me out of a funk.

Psalm 150
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Anyone care to join me in praise?

Hugs all
JavaGirl

Javagirl,

I too can only take the so much of the theological mental gymnastic found on some threads. The continued blessing I find on this forum is that the repartee, and serve and volleys are always respectful and scripturally focused. For the most part we recognize that variations on understanding can be healthy and allows for growth, especially in this nurturing environment.

Thank-you very much for sharing Psalms 150.
I am happy to join you in praise.

I'll gladly join you in praise! How wonderful that you bring it up!

I praise God for the Bible
I praise God for the joy in little children
I praise God for the laughter animals bring me
I praise God for all the smiles around the world
I praise God for singing and musical instruments
I praise God for dancing and rhythm
I praise God for all the ways He speaks to us
I praise God for revealing Himself to us
I praise God for His Spirit comforting us
PRAISE GOD!

Lynne,
I quit "keeping" the saturday sabbath about 4 months ago. I have not felt even the tiniest guilt, and I did ask God to convict me if I was in error. My worship is every day. My corporate worship is both saturday and sunday right now. Jesus "keeps" me every day.

I praise God to be free of Guilt! Free of shame.
I Praise God for his robe of righteousness that fits perfectly all the time, whether or not I gain or lose a few extra pounds of baggage. :-).

It is good to be free.
Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!

Amen, JavaGirl--"It is good to be free!"

I praise God for sending Jesus as a human--I praise Jesus for his blood of the eternal covenant that atoned for me; I praise the Holy Spirit for bringing my spirit to life and for putting His song in my heart.

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!!

Javagirl, I will praise God with you. I hope that the point is not lost in our "heavy theological discussions" about how the reformation truths about salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone are so important for our faith and assurance. Roman Catholicism to this day, as well as SDA still believes that somehow man must participate and in some way help God save us. The Reformers fought Rome on these issues, and people gave their lives for these truths. Jesus and Paul both taught that we are saved by grace alone. Our praise and assurance will only increase as we study these truths. We can then sing with all of our hearts,

"Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood."

Speaking of praising the King, I would like to share this contemporary Christmas song from a Selah CD "The Rose of Bethlehem". This particular song called "Mystery" written by Todd and Angela Smith was sung by our FAF Bible study group in Redlands last Fri. night. It had all of us in a spirit of worship and praise and I was near tears of joy and awe as we think about the significance of this season of the year.

"A child was born on Christmas day
Born to save the world
But long before the world began
He knew His death was sure
The pain and strife secured"

Mystery, how He came
to be a man
But greater still
How His death was in His plan
God predestined that His
Son would die
And He still created man
Oh, what love is this
That His death was in His hands.

The Christmas trees
They glow so bright
With presents all around
But Christmas brought
A tree of life
With blood that sacrificed
The greatest gift in life.

Mystery, how He came
to be a man
But greater still
How His death was in His plan
God predestined that His
Son would die
And He still created man
Oh, what love is this
That His death was in His hands.

I am just a man and
Can't begin to comprehend
When You look into this traitor's eyes
what do You see that
justifies the Lamb.

God predestined that His
Son would die
And He still created man
Oh, what love is this
That His death was in His plan
Mystery, mystery.

A blessed Christmas season to all

Stan, thank you for sharing that song. The words overwhelm me; "God predestined that His Son would die, and He still created man. Oh, what love is this that His death was in His plan."

One of my very favorite songs is the title of this thread

"Praise the King"
by Cindy Morgan

Praise Him in the morning
For tall and lofty trees
And praise Him in the evening
For children on their knees
Oh and praise Him in the noon day
For gentle birds that sing
Oh praise Him all ye people
Praise the King!

And praise Him for the peaceful porch
And rocking chairs that sway
Praise Him for the rolling hills
Where children laugh and play
Oh and praise Him for the wandering soul
That never lost their way
Oh praise Him all ye people
Praise the King!

Chorus:
Praise the King!
Praise the King!
Let it Ring
Prase the King!
Praise the King!
Praise the King!
Let it ring
Praise the King!

And praise Him for the blood that fell
And bloomed a rose that day
And praise Him that He suffered through
The guilt, the grief , the shame
Oh and Praise Him that his tender love
Will still forgive today
Oh Praise Him all ye people
Praise the King!

Bb, I love that song too! I always think of it, and sometimes sing it, on my morning walks!

Father God,
I praise you for your Spirit! I am only beginning to realize the benefits and the communion!

I heard a sermon on the radio today. The concluding remark was something like this...

To grow in Christ, our focus must be on praise rather than performance.....

Oh the performance trap. How well I know that. The devotion on the website http://www.gracewalk.org/
talked about breaking the
Motivation/condemnation/re-dedication cycle.
How well I know that!

Praise God, Praise God, he has FREED me from that endless loop!

Hugs all

Javagirl--I agree; "To grow in Christ, our focus must be on praise rather than performance....."

Great point.
