Today I did something that I have not done for over a year. When I first decided not to rejoin the SDA church, I bought a Strongs Bible concordance and studied the doctrines of the SDA church. I started studying the covenants. Then my job went downhill in home health and I got a full time job in a long term acute care hospital. By the time I get home I am tired and I gave up my studying. Well, today I picked up that studying again. I started with the covenants. I did not realize there are so many. The first one was with Noah, the next with Abraham, the next with Moses and the Israelites and that is only to Exodus. There is an awareness I never had of how God works as I study and I am just beginning. I just had to share this with all of you. All of this is so new to me. It should not be, but I do not remember reading all this when I was in SDA school. This just shows me how awesome God is. Diana |

Diana, I understand! When I first started "seeing" the covenants in a class at church, the big picture just took my breath away. What a wonderful thing you are doing. There really is no substitute for in depth inductive Bible study--even if you just chew on it a tiny bit at a time over weeks. What fun--and what discovery! Colleen

I've not yet had time for in depth studies, but so far, what I have been studying outside the adventist church is sooo different than how the bible was taught in the adventist church. I was baptized today and feel great! It is such a blessing being able to do it the right way. I've had a real sense of peace all day. I never felt that after being baptized adventist. I looked inside the Adventist World Magazine today. There I saw Spirit of Prophecy "The Comforter is Ours" by Ellen G. White. The Spirit of What? It isn't Prophecy. Comforter? Perhaps that was her warm blanket. Her writing never comforted me. And I'm a Christian, not the Beast. I'm glad I have all of that straight now. By the way, does anyone know how long it takes for them to take you off of the books? The board was meeting on the 10th of November and I believe they saw my letter at that time. Shouldn't I have heard about it yet? Lynne |

Lynne, Congratulations on your baptism today. That spirit talked about in Adventist World Magazine is not the spirit of God. Only the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. As far as taking your name off the books, in some cases it doesn't happen. Apparently my name is still on the books after asking to have it removed over 20 years ago. It just simply isn't worth my time or effort to continue to send them registered letters etc. This is just another form of self deception and illusion that they have a lot more members than they actually do. AMEN!!! On being baptized for all the right reasons and those reasons are Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. I know how you felt yesterday. When I was baptized for the right reason a year ago June, I was so happy, so free, so peaceful and I still carry all of these with me. I am SO GLAD that my name was taken off the church books many years ago. It was taken off when I quit attending church after my divorce. The church waited a couple of years and did not notify me when they did it. I had not moved or changed my phone number. I was told by an SDA friend I met at the market one day and he told me. He was an elder of the church. So I have not had to go through that hassle, THANK YOU GOD! I was sent a letter earlier this year by the SDA church I used to attend and was almost baptized at. It was signed by all the staff saying they missed me. I wrote a letter to the pastor. In the letter I told them why I was no longer an SDA and I have not heard from them since. The secretary even had the gall before that letter to send me some tithe envelopes so I could continue to pay tithe. I trashed those. Thank You God for taking me out of confusion into the Love, Peace, and Truth that is found in Jesus Christ and only the Bible. You are Awesome. Diana |

Lynne, congratulations! God will honor your faithfulness to Him, and He will glorify Himself through you and through your public statement of loyalty to Him. Diana, your post just makes me smile wryly. They intitiated removing your name because of your divorce, but when many of us ask for our names to be removed because we've found Jesus, that removal never happens. So ironic! Praise God for HIS faithfulness! Colleen |
