James and Brian, Glad to have someone here newer than me! Now I hope you all will ask some questions or make some comments. I would love to hear where others are at who are new to this site. Most of the time I feel like a kindergarten student who walked into a college class by mistake. Jackob, I have appreciated your posts, and am praying for you in your situation. |

Javagirl, I hear what you say about feeling like a kindergarten student. I have amassed 4 binders full of articles I've gleaned from this site's threads and internet searches and haven't read them all yet! All, My wife and I determined about a month ago to "quit" SDAism. We actually read an open letter on this site from some friends from our academy days about a year ago that got both of us thinking. Unknown to either of us we both began really looking into what we believed because of that. Life events in the last 6 months caused us to come to the point where it was sink or swim and we turned somewhere we hadn't been in years, Prayer. We'd had reservations about EGW since youth but of course chalked it up to just being "Rebellious". Finding sdaoutreach.org has been a huge blessing along with this site. After reading J. Mark Martin's book on EGW ( http://www.sdaoutreach.org/book/ ) I decided my "Gut" feelings had been right. I've since listened to "What about the Ten Commandments" probably a dozen times and can't refute any of it from scripture. Plus, we subscribed to "Proclamation" and wouldn't you know! The first one we get is the reprint of Dale Ratzlaff(?) study on the covenants and Colleens story about "Breaking" the sabbath ;-) for the first time. I've devoured that several times also. In the last 2 weeks we have sent a letter to our parents explaining what we've found and are dealing with that fallout which is tough. And we have also found a small Sunday (Oh My!) church in our neighborhood that we have attended and enjoyed. Well, I've rambled enough for a second post I guess. I hope you can make some sense of it! Brian2, don't you hate having your name spelled "brain" in emails and such :-) by boss does it all the time! Brian P.S. Anybody on here in the North Texas area? I noticed there was an FAF fellowship listed but no contact information

Welcome James, Jackob, and Brian. I am also pretty new to my journey of discovery about Adventism. Praying that God will richly bless you all and hold you close as you study and pray. It is exhausting sometimes, but God is so good! Hi Javagirl...I'm still praying for you too! Julie |

Welcome also to Brian3! It's both exhilarating and scary, isn't it, to be walking into new territory? But when you know you're following Jesus, the exhilaration wins. Keep praying and immersing yourself in Scripture. When those inevitable doubts blindside you, Jesus will be faithful to keep you rooted in truth and trust. We're so glad you're here. Colleen |

Brian, I cried after reading your post. It is so cool to finally get it! Grace! When I really sit down and ponder God's grace I can't help but get a little emotional. Enjoy the moment and never loss sight of grace. Others will question and judge your walk. Hold on to Jesus. (I got calls from people I had heard from in years and I haven't heard from since.) I am so happy for you and your wife. |
