Cindy, Is it your husband who recently communicated with me? Our past Bozeman connection. If so, I would love to have you share your experience with me on how you discovered the truth of the Gospel. Jess |

What happened with the young lady teacher that recently got fired from the SDA school when the school board found out she was pregnant at the time of her marriage? Has anyone kept up on thhis story? |

I read the article. "Our deer friends the Catholics". Give me a break! The SDA church still teaches and its members still believe those dear friends are going to persucate them at the end for observing the Sabbath after these so called friends hussle in the dreaded Sunday laws. Oh, pleezzzzze! |

Jess, I just found an internet connection so I could sign-on and see what was happening. I loved the time I was able to share with you and your wife, as I drove to my parents this past Saturday. Thanks for your openess and the sharing of your story. Both of you are in my prayers and I hope we can stay in contact. God bless you both. Richard rtruitt@mac.com |

Please forgive me, I am not sure what thread to go to for this. Someone mentioned that Maxwell was teaching Universallism at La Sierra. I mentioned I had heard this to a friend, who happens to like Graham Maxwell, and is sure that it just can't be. I said I'm sure there are several Maxwell's, and Graham is of an older generation, not working (am I wrong?) anyway could someone tell me which Maxwell they were refering to and I won't mention things to people unless I have more facts! Thanks |

You might look here Benevento: Graham Maxwell's Home Page Or, more particularly, here: Servants of Friends? Another Look At God I find the view of God contained in Maxwell's book to be a very low view indeed. The God described in this book does not appear to be very sovereign. The God described in this book is one dimensional lacking the attributes of justice and righteous wrath. Chris

Actually, Graham Maxwell has been at Loma Linda and is officially retired, although I believe he still has a Sabbath School class. (I stand to be corrected, however--I'm not absolutely sure about that!) I'm not sure whether or not his theology would be called universalism--he definitely falls into the "moral influence" category. He maintains God does not kill the wicked--they kill themselves by removing themselves from God. He also seems to hold the idea that Jesus didn't have to die to accomplish the atonement. The death was more or less incidental. God could forgive sins just because He's forgiving; He didn't need anyone's shed blood. These positions are contrary to Scripture, however, and they distinctly negate the power and necessity and sufficiency of Jesus' blood and resurrection. Colleen |

Jess, No, I don't think my husband is the one you were thinking about... Colleen, Thanks for the greeting. Richard is doing well. I am very grateful. We are still in the same area. This forum has really grown, hasn't it? I've missed much by not posting (or even reading) for a number of months; really behind in everyones' story... grace always, cindy

Thanks Chris and Colleen--Certainly doesn't sound scriptural!! This friend is sending me the book-- Servants or Friends so I'll try to read it--. I'm currently reading "Healing Spiritual Abuse" by Ken Blue, and finding it interesting and helpful.I was afraid it would be very abrasive, but he really has a sweet spirit I think, for such a difficult subject. |

Benevento, Healing Spiritual Abuse is one of the first books I ordered and read after deciding not to rejoin the SDA church. He is very good at writing and not being abrasive. Diana |
