Yes, Eric, I totally agree with Chris and Pw! Avoid them at all costs!! ALL of the things Chris listed are completely ANTI-Biblical. They all go absolutely contrary to the Word of God. Jeremy |

Eric, I have not the time to check out the RemnantofGod website you mention. A week ago or so I posted a simple "math test" to use in "calculating" the beliefs of a group of people. Here it is, again, for you to consider as you look over their beliefs. Show this "math test" to your friends, also. Best wishes, Eric, as you search for answers. Always, always test EVERYTHING someone says or something you read against the Word of God. You will NEVER go wrong that way! I am praying the prayer of 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 14 for you and your wife especially today. If a group of people... ADD to Scripture SUBTRACT from Jesus MULTIPLY the requirements for salvation DIVIDE themselves from other Christians ...the group is most definitely a CULT!! |

Eric, I am 53 years old. When I was 17 I wanted to become a bapitized Christian. Having little exposure to any source of getting baptised other than SDA's I went to the local SDA pastor and asked to be bptised. I asked him to baptise me a Christian only. I told him in the 5th grade when I was 11 yars old I'd figred out how stupid the SDA church was but I wanted to give my heart to Jesus and be baptized. He told me it was against his policy to baptise someone and not have their names be officially on the SDA church membership. But, then he told me after I was batitized I could write to the church and request than my name be taken off the membership. This is what I did. However, I never got a letter or reply from anyone at the church saying that my name was removed. As I understand it SDA's are members on the local church they attend. There is no central membership list at the local conference or at the general conference. Yet, the local churches are expected to send the money collected to the general conference. I have always wondered how come they do it that way. Does anyone know? And, please, disregard the uncouth language as that really was the way I thought when I was 11 yers old and in the 5th grade. I have since learned to choose my words more carefully so not to be quite as offensive. And, I think it goes back to having a 5th grade teacher that mostly only wanted to drill us on EGW all day, every day. She herself had only had a high school education but this was back when the teachers at the SDA schools were picked by their devotion to the denomination and not by any education in how to educate children. Every subject she would try to teach us was somehow taught according to what EGW believed on the topic. She told us that there never were dionasurs, that satan put those bones in the ground like that because the earth was really only 6000 years old and satan knew if people really believed that dionasuars existed then those people would not believe the creation story and therefore would not have the truth of the Sabbath. I think that was what did it for me. I read National Geographic with a passion (still do) and I knew National Geographic was smarter than my teacher so I decided to not go to my parents religion when I grew up. The really bazaar part of it though is that I was so instilled with believing that SDA's value freedom of religion so much and I understood that to mean then I could embrase any religion I wanted to when I grew up and the SDA's who love me would be happy about it because I was practicigmy freedom of religion. WRONG! As a adult I have found out to a SDA the term "freedom of religion" means SDA's have freedom of religion but they sure do expect their adult children to stay SDA, even to fake being SDA is better than proclaiming that one is no longer SDA. BTW, my 4th grade teacher, at that very same school was absoutely the best and most wonderful teacher I ever had. Bless her heart, she was a true gem. |

Susan, you reminded me of a conversation I had some months ago with an SDA friend. I've shared it before, but will again because it's so funny in a strange way to me. My friend was telling my husband and I (my husband has never been SDA, born & raised Baptist, and I left over three years ago) that the dinosaur bones are from animals that died in the flood, and she also mentioned that other worlds are watching us, and will not sin because they've seen what we've been through. My husband challenged both these things and asked her where they were in the Bible. She couldn't remember but was going to try to find them. She had absolutely no idea they were EGW, and not in the Bible. She also recently mentioned something to me about drinking. I drink red wine occasionally, and was telling her some of the health benefits. She said that couldn't be true or God would not have told us in the Bible not to drink it. I found these comments interesting, but so typical. |

Carol, that is because in fundamental Adventism, Ellen said = God said. |

Then why did Paul advise Timothy to drink a little wine for hus stomach illness if it was considered bad for our health? The SDA's must hate that verse. |

My church only uses grape juice, Free. My pastor is sensitive to anyone that may have abused alcohol or been an alcholic in their former life", so it keeps things easier. I personally like the wine but I don't really care either way. I am just glad my pastor is so considerate. Tracey |

Tracey, as a recovering alcoholic I appreciate the sensitivity of your pastor. He should be applauded for his consideration towards those who struggle. |

The SDA take on wine is that they believe it was nothing more than grape juice. It's moronic. At least that's what I remember. It's quite obvious that wine was wine in those days, and Jesus drank wine. Of course, that freaks out the SDA to actually believe that. |
