Dr. Raymond Cottrell, renowned Seventh-day Adventist scholar, editor, and author has passed away at the age of 91. Dr. Cottrell was the Associate Editor of the SDA Bible Commentary Series, Associate Adventist Review editor, and he was a significant catylst against the unbiblical investigative judgment theory. It is my understanding that his unpublished book on the investigative judgment was to be published after his death. Undoubtedly, this forthcoming posthumous publication will endow Dr. Cottrell with a continuing legacy that threatens the very foundation of Adventism. He publicly stated that Dr. Desmond Ford should never have been defrocked in 1980. Furthermore, he called for the church leadership to reinstate his ministerial credentials. Even though he embraced extrabiblical authority, he will be remembered as a fallen hero in many religious circles. |
