A great many people are adverse and aghast at the prevalent Christian teaching of Hell. Humans suffer so much in life, and are we to believe that on top of that there is a God that will burn people in hell forever? First of all we have to see that the belief in the immortality of the human soul, is of pagan origin. And from this error springs the many doctrines of what hell is,... the worst being propounded from devilish pulpits is the endless torment of the wicked in everlasting flames. How could a loving, just, and compassionate God do such a thing, we ask. But is it true? Do humans naturally possess immortality? What does the scripture say? Here's a pretty clear one that indicates humans do NOT posses an immaterial spirit: 1 TIMOTHY Chapter 6 "The King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see." |

Hmm ... Really? So now we are to take seriously the opinions of theologians like Benjamin Corey that have departed from the sound exegesis of Scripture in favor of "progressive Christianity"? (progressivechristianity.org/the-8-points/) |

Walt is repeating himself again. This objection was answered by Chris and Colleen on February 4. |

Walt, We are pretty much going around in circles here debating something our sovereign God has planned, set in place and is going to do. And, assuming your sins have been covered by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, isn't something you will experience. This is sort of like questioning the meaning of the 'Potter and the Clay' when ironically, you are clay intended by your Creator for noble use. That being said, why not give it a rest and move on? After all, Jesus Christ suffered more pain at Calvary than we will ever understand yet he did it by choice. Fearless Phil |

Jesus said that there are DEGREES of punishment for the wicket - Luke 12:47-48. (Just like there are DEGREES of rewards for the saved - 1st Corinthians 3:12-15.) As to what hell is, we DO know that it's eternal separation from God, whatever that means exactly for the lost, I don't know.... |

That was refreshing. This is actually where I am with it, not knowing. I apologize. There was no need for me to start another another thread. But it was worth it just to hear someone say "I don't know." So, we can let this thread die. That's fine. God speed, All. ~ Walt |
