Merry Christmas from Yucaipa! And here we are, on the cusp of a new year! I'm so thankful that we know Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what politics or finances do this year. (Message edited by Colleentinker on December 28, 2012) |

I don't want to start a special thread to say this so this is what is special right now in my family at this time of the year. As I posted elsewhere, Christmas started out in the hospital but ended up here. I have worked one way or another since I was nine years old. Today was my last day to punch a time clock and January 1st I will be officially retired and able to focus all my time at home looking after Jan's needs. Today, the boss hugged me and told me how much he enjoyed have me in his crew and he cried. Needless to say I got a little emotional myself. Wow, and there were other guys watching all this. Since Jan's needs keep me close to home and have for quite some time, this forum has been a major spiritual support even when I haven't post much. Even those I haven't met I consider as part of my extended family. May God richly bless all of you. May the Lord do great things in your lives in the coming year. And yes Colleen, I plan on being a little more visible here on the forum from now on. Phil |

Dear Phil~ All people who are 'born-again of the SPIRIT' are brothers and sisters~ one Family bound together by the precious blood of CHRIST our SAVIOR! I feel like You are my Family! Retirement is FUN!!! I should know, I have been 'retired' since 2005! Now I have time to do what I could only dream of before~ You have to live it to believe it! IMO~ in GOD's sight~'Tears' are for everyone to shed! I look forward to reading more of your succinct posts in 2013! Blessings~ ~mj~ |

~mj~, Joy in retiring yes. Fun though I am not to sure about. Had to take Jan back into the hospital last night via ambulance. She is home and fine now, but I assure you I'm not expecting much fun for at least awhile. Joy there is though since Jan and I rest in the safety of our Savior. Phil |

Phil~ I have had my 'sojourns' in the hospital since I retired~ Thankfully, this was where GOD allowed me to be. I received the expert care I needed to diagnosis my condition, and the medication to keep me alive! I am doing well, and I am contributing to my two 'Families'~ home and church! I am also writing a book! publication date unknown!! This is what I meant by "Fun!"~ I will continue to keep you and Jan in my prayers~ Blessings to you both, as the New Year rapidly approaches! ~mj~ |

~mj~, You are right about this kind of 'fun' and I agree with you. It just that I sometimes find it hard calling something fun when it is someone I love that is undergoing the pain. I have a much easier time with this when I'm the one who has the physical pain. When I had knee surgery there was massive pain and it didn’t bother me at all, not even when a blood clot went to my lungs and nearly killed me. I had total peace and joy knowing I was safe in the arms of our Savior. However, when I was hallucinating from the morphine they were pumping into me, that alarmed me and I insisted that I would far rather experience the pain rather than those strange things that were coming out of my head. It reminded me too much of the nightmares I had growing up as an Adventist and thinking I was part of a vast nothingness that didn’t really exist. Phil |
