Charles Spurgeon, using the text Psalm 91:9 ("You have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place"), brings another beautiful devotional to our day today. He describes how the COI were frequently on the move through the wilderness. (Not a simple or easy task if you stop to think about it!) Anyway, he writes: "Their home was with their God. His cloudy pillar was their roof by day, and by night its flame was their household fire (Ex. 13:21, 22). Yet they pressed on from place to place, changing locations, never able to settle. Nowhere could they say, "Now we are secure, here we will dwell." The Christian knows that God does not change. With Him there is no variation or shadow of turning (James 1:17). We may be rich today and poor tomorrow. We may be sick today and healthy tomorrow. We may be happy today and depressed tomorrow. But there is no change in our relationship with God. He loved me yesterday, He loves me today. My unmoving mansion of rest is my blessed Lord. Even if my future is dim and my hopes are blasted, even if my joys die and rust destroys everything, I have lost nothing in God. He is "my strong refuge to which I may resort continually" (Psalm 71:3) I am a pilgrim in this world but at home in my God. In the earth I roam, but in God I dwell in quiet peace." Thinking of and praying for so many here that are going through hard things right now... "Trust Me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory." Psalm 50:15 |

Thank-you Nowisee. Charles Spurgeon is one of my favorites and I am on an email list that gives a Spurgeon message daily. Charles was the "real deal" he suffered with depression yet kept his eyes fixed on Christ. Thanks for the reminder Enoch |

The most striking thing about this website is the encouragement given day to day. The word encouragement has such deep meaning, to hold up, prop up, sustain. The truth is that we need this from one another. I am thankful for it. River |
