Don't forget to sign up for the 2012 FAF conference! It promises to be extremely good this year. The title of the weekend is "Worldview Alignment Needed". Phil Bubar, the dynamic and warm senior pastor from The Chapel in St Joseph, Michigan (where Carolyn Macomber is a member and the leader of an FAF group) will be the keynote speaker. Meetings will begin on Friday morning again this year. Phil will open the first meeting with a talk addressing the core of our worldview correction that's needed: our understanding of the Trinity and of who Jesus REALLY is. Colleen Tinker will teach the second general session and will do an overview on the great controversy worldview and how it differs from a biblical worldview. Our third hour this year will be a Q & A session in which you'll be able to ask any question you have about your Adventist understanding, and a panel consisting of Phil, Dale Ratzlaff, and me will address your questions. After lunch Dale Ratzlaff will do a talk on what the new covenant really is and how it changes our relationship to God and our view of life and salvation. After Dale's teaching session, Phil will present the last session of the afternoon: "Born again into a new reality", in which he explains what it means to be born again and how/why it's necessary. Friday evening is our public session to which we invite the local Christian pastors from the area as well as Trinity Church members. Phil's talk is entitled, "Comparing Two Worldviews: Adventism and Christianity", and he will address his own journey of discovering that Adventism isn't the Christian denomination it presents itself to be. Also on Friday evening Paul Carden, executive director for The Centers for Apologetics Research, will give a short talk on the Adventist's aggressive proselytizing in the mission fields. The faith story for Friday night will be given by Carel Stevenson of Yucaipa, California. Saturday will begin with a devotional by Trinity's senior pastor Gary Inrig. The first general session after that will be Phil teaching on "It's How You View the Blood". Breakout sessions followed by lunch will precede Dale Ratzlaff speaking on "Sabbath and the Seal of God". Immediately preceding Dale, former Adventist Elizabeth Church from Pennsylvania will give her faith story. Breakout sessions follow Dale, and right before dinner the asked-for Jon Rittenhouse will close the afternoon with a presentation entitled, "Worldview aligned by trusting the Bible." Dinner will be catered by a local restaurant, and the evening will end with a communion service led by Phil Bubar. Eunice Sellers of Redlands, California, will share her faith story at this meeting. Sunday morning Phil will lead the final meeting at 8:00 after which we'll all go to church at Trinity before having our annual fellowship lunch together in a local home. Breakout session leaders will include Dale Ratzlaff, Phil Bubar, apologist Jim Valentine, and Martin Carey. A new feature this year is special sessions for teenagers led by Carel and Nicole Stevenson. If you have teens or know of some who should come, please let them know! The price for the weekend is $85 and includes most meals and materials. The price for teens is $65 per person. I agree with Freeatlast. I have attended for the past five years and am so looking forward to coming again this year. Both the teaching and the fellowship are amazing and I so encourage anyone reading this to consider attending. My husband is "a never has been SDA" and attends with me. It is great to have him begin to understand my background and my passion to see people freed from this denomination, come to Christ and live an abundant Christian life. |
