I have retired school principle cousin recovering from Catholicism, but now turned New Age.

Last week I forwarded her an amazing Youtube video of wild gorillas in Uganda that made a very rare visit to a tourist camp.

She was thrilled to view the clip yet she replied "I can't believe people don't think we humans are related in any way to these creatures."

Of course, she did not ask my opinion, stating only hers. But somehow I feel like I need to reply or comment on what she said.

I would welcome any feedback or suggestions.

Goose, I don't know of a succinct response, but I think if it were me I might just make the comment that I believe Scripture to be God's true, reliable word to us, and it states in Genesis 1-2 and John 1 (among others) that God created us, that Jesus the Word was the one through whom all things were made that were made.

Because He claims us, He saved us and took on the same mortal flesh we have so He could qualify as a sinless human to carry all our sin to the cross, thus redeeming us. Redemption and the new birth make no sense outside our being created by our Savior. I'd just recommend that she read John 1...
