New. Year's. Resolutions. -- A time when many decide to read through the whole bible. . .Genesis & Exodus are fun! then Leviticus & Numbers hmmnn, & . . . where are we by April?! Check out this FB group: Succeeding in Reading by Dividing the Word for a teaching that has helped countless numbers of people to succeed in reading the whole Bible & continue to reread it. Studies have shown that 98% of people in the pews have never read through the bible even one time; & 90% of clergy & bible teachers have never read through the bible one time either. I never had either, in spite of being told sdas were 'the people of the Book'. In spite of having a bible class every year in school first grade through college. I never read through even one whole book of the bible until I became part of a women's non-denominational bible study in 1997. But I still never read the whole bible. We (hubby & I) found this teaching in 2006. We both read & continue to reread the whole bible. There are lots of bible reading plans out there. Different things work for different people. THIS is the one that worked for us. My husband does not like to read; God used this plan for him to succeed in reading His Word. It is NOT about just being a Bible reader. It IS about Finding God & Knowing Him. As an sda I believed what I was told the bible said. I studied 'Key Texts' in bible doctrines class in high school. I believed I was told the biblical truth. I did not question the key doctrines. I did question the lifestyle issues. Many of the stories I have read about those who have left sdaism speak of reading the bible IN CONTEXT - & seeing what the Bible really says; what is really true. They found it transforming. The first time through the bible my ID verse burned itself into my mind: 1 John 2:27 NLT "But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ." The teaching is by Judy Reamer & can be found on her website: judyreamer.com ---> Products --->Breaking the Bible Barrier --->CDs I have made it a ministry to help people get into the Word of God for themselves, so if you would like a jumpstart you may ask me for the CDs & a bible rather than ordering the CDs, ordering a bible, & then doing what needs to be done before you begin. I keep them on hand, ready to send out, at all times. If this is something you have never done, & would like to accomplish, I hope you join us there AND keep the resolution to read the whole counsel of God in the New Year! May God bless everyone greatly in the New Year 2012! J9 |

I heard Judy Reamer tell her life story "God Wins in Las Vegas" and she is FABULOUS! She taught us so much about how Jews see scripture and how they see Christians and Christianity. |

Got2bfree, We heard Judy retape her life story this past September. There was an amazing, powerful anointing of God & the Holy Spirit in her presentation. The day was specifically for videotaping the Bible reading teaching with time left which was used for her conversion story. I really believe that God will use her testimony someway to perhaps even bring Jewish people to the Messiah. Her story is enlightening in telling how & why Jewish people are resistant to Christianity. Things we gentile Christians have no idea about. I have a Jewish friend & hearing Judy's story has helped me understand my friend & why she seems impervious to spiritual things. J9 |

1john...you are so right about reading the Bible through! We did a wonderful Bible Reading plan this year at Trinity Church that helped me see and understand the history and sequence of the OT and the NT in a new, big-picture way. The plan was designed by NavPress, and you can get the yearly book-at-a-time plan here: http://www.navpress.com/store/catalog.aspx?id=27&theme=DJ Whatever plan you use, I do encourage you to try reading the Bible through in a year if at all possible. The organized plans are especially good because they juxtapose readings from the OT with Psalms, Proverbs, and Isaiah in a way that gives extra dimension to the readings...both in terms of detail and in terms of sequence and the related-ness of God's word from the oldest to the most recent books.
