I was talking to my SIL today and she was telling me that while she is looking for fellowship in a non SDA church, not too long ago she did attend a SDA church in Redding, Ca. she said the stained windows were very eerie looking. That there were black clouds and there were angels, but the angels were standing with their heads down, not like in prayer, but in shame. She said it made her think that they must have been angels who had been cast out of Heaven, but she couldn't figure out why they would have that on the windows in a SDA church. She said she was a first time visitor there and the people were very unfriendly, no one even spoke to her except for one woman who when she had sat down came up to her and told her "you cant sit there " so she moved to another area and was told that she couldn't sit there either. How weird is that .!.?.!? |

Well, the Glendale, AZ SDA Church's stained glass window has three angels falling headfirst and they look like demons made out of skeletons. I posted about it on this thread: http://www.formeradventist.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-auth.cgi?file=/8712/6980.html#POST92903 The links to the images I uploaded no longer work, but you can see them here, listed in the same order: http://www.cultorchristian.com/images/stainedglass.jpg http://www.cultorchristian.com/images/stainedglass2.jpg http://www.cultorchristian.com/images/glendalesda.jpg And in that last picture, from the outside, they look like snakes! Jeremy, very weird. Yes they do look like skeletons from the inside and definitely snakes from the outside,,, down to the scales. CREEPY ! I am going to ask my SIL if she can take a pic of the window in Redding. The small SDA church I attended in Morro Bay didnt have a cross, but above the baptistry there was a picture that I always really liked. It is a large mural of Christ with outstretched arms and blue sky and white clouds in the background. |

Skeeter, when my now ex husband's job took us to Montreal, Quebec I attended the nearest sda church. I got there a little early and sat down. What I did not know was at this church everyone had "their" place and who ever got in that place was asked to move. I was asked to move a number of times. I finally made some friends who told me. Also at that church, on the first sabbath I was there, I was asked if my husband was a doctor interning at McGill Un hospital. When I said no, this group of people quit talking to me. This was in 1970/71. In spite of that treatment I hung onto the church. When anyone says my feelings were hurt and I left adventism I tell them this story and tell them I hung on for another 33 years. Awesome God had lessons for me to learn. Diana L |

Yes, I understand about people having their favorite places to sit... even at the Non denominational church I have been attending there are members who usually sit in the same places. My "place" is normally third row back and about center as my son, DIL and one grandson sit on my right and two older grandsons on the row in front of us... BUT.... when there are visitors and they happen to sit in someones "place"I have NEVER EVER seen or heard anyone EVER asking them to "move"or complain or even mention it. If someone sits there, the "regular" of that spot, simply sits someplace else Visitors should be made to feel welcome, not like they are intruding on someones "space". |
