Must see/hear interview. Farah has 400,000 on his mailing list alone - not to mention being the largest media draw to millions of conservative-minded, politically concerned Christians.

Joseph Farah desperately needs to read Proclamation magazine ! He is an example of people who do not understand the 'covenants'~ I have to say I am disturbed to hear Joseph holds these views~ I read his 'World Daily' quite often~

There really needs to be some vocal high profile people out there that understands the Old and New covenants and preaches on that. So many christians really don't understand the covenants and because of their lack of knowledge and understanding they are being misled by people like this....not knowing any better.

There are so many gospel substitutes worming their way into the Christian world. The covenants are central...and I agree that they are overlooked to a great extent.

On the one end of the spectrum we have the return to outright old covenant observances, rationalizing that the Mosaic covenant is for all humanity—never mind what Jesus has done. At the other end of the spectrum we have people grasping for the seal of the Holy Spirit, begging for His power, agreeing together and creating "cultures of agreement" to get the full benefits of the power of the Spirit.

In both ends of this spectrum people are resorting to works. They remain somehow "in control", making sure their practices are right so the outcomes are what they desire.

The new covenant is based on the Lord Jesus. He is the one IN whom we live. He is who we seek and serve. We receive the person of the Holy Spirit when we believe, and He teaches us the truth about Jesus and living in submission to Him and His word.

The miracle of the new covenant is that we receive the triune God—His life and power and promise and name—when we believe in the Lord Jesus. We do not have to cajole, beg, plead, or figure out what to do to "get more of him".

We can rest--that is the beauty of knowing Jesus and embracing His finished work. We rest. It is finished! His power is made perfect in our weakness.

I feel such an urgency for my fellow "formers" and those who are investigating their Adventism. Don't get sidetracked; Jesus is all we need, and His word is alive, transforming us in the deepest and most profound ways. His Spirit is a promise, and He gives us Himself--all the power and privilege of being God's adopted sons and daughters is ours when we are in Christ. God is not limited by our ignorance or imperfections. Whatever He desires to accomplish, He will do; whatever gifts and powers He desires to give us, He will give us. Our job is to offer ourselves to Him as living sacrifices for His purposes.

He asks us to trust Him and to walk by faith, giving thanks and praying always. He fights for us; He changes us; He works in us; He ministers through us; He IS our LIFE!

Agreed Colleen! Awesome evaluation. I get so sick of this whole genre of discussion.. just want to move on to a happy place and have blogged other topics.. but these events place on me the urgency and obligation to speak from my own education of failure.

I only know of two mainstream, high-profile teachers who understand the role of the covenants & the Sabbath - Chuck Smith and John MacArthur. Are there any others that you know of?

In my women's Bible study last night.. I went on an impassioned diatribe (those poor girls) about how since I have left the cults - I have met only ONE believer who had not ever been through this who understood the covenants. This is why people are so vulnerable to this. I know they may not have liked what I had to say.. but it's the truth. They themselves have the 10C in a huge prominent role in their teaching. In fact they were hanging right over our heads there.. taped to a bookshelf. This is so blinding to seeing Jesus.. AND admitting our own helplessness for some reason. Instead of being humbled by it, Christians wear it like a badge of their moral righteousness.... as if we ourselves live up to its demands.

But I digress. My heart is heavy for people to see Jesus.

There are many, many Calvary Chapel Pastors(Chuck Smith, being one of them) who understand the Covenants & the sabbath! I am blessed to have a Pastor at the Calvary Chapel I attend, who understands this very important subject!
If I were in a church that did not understand and proclaim it to the people, I would have second thoughts about attending there, and look for somewhere that did!

I don't know any others with quite the high profile of Smith and MacArthur. I do know that John Reisinger is known for teaching the New Covenant (you can google him; he's got much material online), and I know that our pastor Gary Inrig is clear. While I haven't heard him preach topically on the covenants, he preached through Romans and declared ringingly that Jesus has fulfilled the law and we are NOT under it. He's very clear on the covenants.

I share your heaviness, Sondra. The lack of understanding the covenants is HUGE in Christians' lack of clarity on what the gospel IS and ISN'T.

I would throw Douglas Moo's name into that mix. He is more of a technical theologian than a popular speaker/writer. He won't be using the vocabulary most familiar to dispensationalists, but when you examine his teachings on the Law you will see how well he lays out the fulfillment of the law and the difference between the Old and New Testament teachings of the law. His writing can be quite technical so be prepared for both the Greek words emphasized and the footnotes. His theology website is www.djmoo.com and it contains links to a number of excellent articles he has authored. I would particularly recommend www.djmoo.com/articles/lawofmoses.pdf

My heart is heavy for people to see Jesus...too

i am encountering this hebrew roots legalism more and more. Including Cathy, a good friend of mine who was just down visiting for 4 days that i have not seen in a few years. It so grieved my spirit to hear her tell me how each week she celebrates the sabbath :-(

My best human friend Caryn, that i have known for almost 30 years recently told me she is afraid she will not make it to heaven!!! That the Bible teaches we can lose our salvation and be cut off and not attain to the first resurrection???
She has been listening to a Robert Thompson .. Trumpet Minsitries, based in southern California.

Has anyone heard of him or are aware of his teachings???

i think this also is another new legalistic cult coming out.

i would gratefully appreciate your prayers for both of these dear friends of mine.
