Hey Ross, I looked at your youtube video, but more importantly, I listened to your youtube video. ( I always feel hearing the word is much more effective than just reading the word, things just seam to come through better). What I noticed is that Paul in Hebrews is quoting from Jeremiah 31 as follows: 31Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Paul then goes on to say in Hebrews 8:13 13In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. The thing that really got me is that even in Jeremiah's times, the first covenant was made old; the first covenant was decaying; the first covenant was waxing old, and the first covenant was even then ready to vanish away. All of verse 13 in the 8th chapter of Hebrews is a complete statement broken into two sentences , and is talking about what God said back in Jeremiah's time, past tense. These verses in Jeremiah, foretold our wonderful atonement with God through Jesus Christ's birth, death, and resurrection. The old covenant has already vanished. Chris |

You're welcome. And yes...the Old Covenant is gone, it should no longer be of effect to the modern Christian. The unbeliever though still needs to be shown Christ through the 10 Commandments. |
