This just in from a local SDA church that still sends me emails. Pastor _____'s Holiday Sermon Series: Faces Around the Manger (Stories of the First Adventists) Peering out from the birth stories in Matthew and Luke are faces familiar as a family photo album. They have accompanied our journey to Christmas each year. Who are these people, really? They are us! They are "Adventists," people waiting in hope and patience for the Messiah. In the stories of these "first Adventists," we "second Adventists" are looking for clues to our own journey of hope as we patiently await Christ's return. As if! Feel free to respond with your thoughts. Surfy |

As usual, it's ALL about the Adventists! The creation is about the Adventists, The 10 Commandments (minus the law of Moses, of course) is about the Adventists, the whole darn Bible is about the Adventists, and now Christmas. Jesus can't even return without the help of the Adventists. Don't know what we'd all do without the Adventists... Leigh Anne |

Indeed—Israelites are the Adventists! Salvation is from the Jews... Surfy, there's no reasoning with this mentality; they are deeply embedded in a Great Controversy worldview, and they absolutely cannot see that Jesus is the eternal, incorruptible, unblemished God the Son, and they can't tell that darkness isn't light, and light isn't darkness. Their paradigm totally defines them. Colleen |

The focus in this little blurb is on the 'remnant' church--conspicuously missing is an emphasis on The Baby. Interesting that they admit they are 'looking for clues'...would that by definition make them 'clueless'? |
