Here is a quote made by one of my old sda friends on Facebook, "..this life here is training ground for our life in heaven." ???????? Where do they get this stuff? Were you ever taught that when we get to heaven we will all sit around a movie theater type of venue and watch every person's every sin in detail? That used to really scare me!!!! As a child in deliberate disobedience I would sometimes look up and apologize to those watching in the future, lol. | ||

Oh, Surfy, yes...I've heard that. I also remember that great MOVIE of my life at the final judgment...and "safe to save" has been a big idea around Loma Linda for years. Not sure if it's used as much currently, but I think it was a legacy of Malcolm Maxwell. I agree, Surfy--their minds are so filled with odd teachings that their worldviews are warped, and the gospel doesn't make much sense. Colleen | ||

The world is a stage...yup, heard that one all through my SDA education. The movie of your life...yup, heard that too. I only occasionally heard the "safe to save" idea...at the time I didn't understand the significance of it. | ||

One of the things that I was told was we are an example to beings on other planets as to why God made them to be obedient only to him (robots). In other words they are not allowed to make their own decisions because of the trouble it will cause. I hope this makes some sense. Gail | ||

I heard that we were an example to the other planets, but that they had also had a 'tree of knowledge of good and evil" and had chosen not to sin, therefore they just watched us to see what happened when people choose sin. | ||

If people (or beings on other planets) watch people sinning, wouldn't they be sinning themselves? Example: "I'm just watching porn but I'm not sinning. I'm just watching it". Surfy | ||

It's funny how the words of the depressed Jaques from Shakespeare's play, "As You Like It," would turn up as as way to explain the SDA theology of death. In the play, Jaques doesn't like women, doesn't like life, and believes it all ends in nothing. His whimpering little speech tells the final stage of life: "Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion; Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything." | ||

Jaques isn't talking about providing drama for the universe. In the play, Jaques doesn't like women, doesn't like life, and believes it all ends in nothing. Great point, Martin. But why not Shakespeare to inform Ellen? We know Milton seemed to have a lot to do with her heavenly visions... I am so glad I forgot so much of the dogma of sdas during the 25+ years I only attended church occasionally. One of Gilbert's friends on FB told me it was good I forgot so much. That way I was able to answer God's call, immediately, when He called me to leave adventism. I did not have a struggle with doctrine. I read the NT, then when I went to my church I found they teach the same things I learned from God. Of course God took 25+ years to deprogram me of this cult. God does work in mysterious ways!!!
