Have you noticed that NONE of the people in the cults can say, "I am saved"? I'm sure that the people to whom the apostle Paul wrote, saying: "you have been saved," could all say "I am saved!" Ephesians 2:8,9; 2nd Tim. 1:9; Titus 3:5

In Islam, Muslims just hope that their "good" deeds outweigh their "bad" deeds (unless they get to die blowing up an "infidel" in which case they are "garenteed" salvation - hmmm, how come Ellen said nothing about Islam? Because they're not a threat??!!)
In Roman Catholicism, people just have to make it to their "sacrifice of the mass" where Jesus is "sacrificed" over and over again; and they have to confess to a priest in order to have salvation.
In Adventism, SDAs have to make it through the "investigative judgment" in order to be saved and Ellen said that no one should say they are saved - in other words she said Paul was wrong (and the apostle John too - 1st John 2:12)

Religion is man-made, Salvation is God-made. Think about it. Man can't save himself, only God could save us.

Dljc,

Sadly, most Christians and churches today believe that God helps them to save themselves. This is based partly upon the popular, false notion that "God helps those who help themselves." Thus, soteriologically, our Adventist friends find alot of support from the Christian world today. Truly, "salvation comes from the Lord" (Jonah 2:9 NIV). Moreover, it is a gift to be received, not a goal to be achieved. It's all about Him!

Hey, it is not plagiarizing. We are telling Dennis we are going to use his quote. I haven't seen him say no. Oh, I am going to take it and use it also on FB.

Feel free to use the quote widely. It was on our refrigerator as my wife and I were transitioning out of Adventism. I also made copies, using certifcate frames, for my Sunday School class. I am sure it is not an original thought on my part anyway, but I don't know the real author. It has blessed many lives.

You guys don't understand. Dennis is making fun by saying that. The SDA quote is "Salvation is not a gift to be received, it is a goal to be achieved." Now, someone smarter than me, please find the reference for that quote in the red books.

Did the sda's really say that?

You guys know I was just being silly (at least Leigh Anne does!) I'll use it too! Thanks Dennis :-)

Hec, I don't think that's in the red books. It's more of an attitude widely displayed in the SDA church. When I was an SDA, I thought it was BOTH - that salvation was both a gift and a goal - works. The trouble is, I just couldn't quite put them together and coming up with any sort of lasting assurance of salvation.

I bet you that even if it is not in the red books exactly as written, it's still there in some shape or form. In a paraphrase, or some other explanation. It just need to be found. Jeremy?

Bb, take me with a grain of salt when I directly challenge someone. In this case when I'm redirecting Dennis. I like to joke around. I don't know that it is said that way, but it is taught that way.
