Don't miss this newest Proclamation. The printed version is at the printer as we speak; the online version just went up. There is a powerful article by Chris Badenhorst on the scapegaot, and another by Russell Kelly showing why blood NEVER defiled the sanctuary or carried sins into it. SDA theology teaches that Jesus had to cleanse heaven of the sins His blood carried into the heavenly sanctuary—but this belief is never taught in the Bible. Blood always cleanses. Martin Carey has written an extremely good article showing how the "elemental spirits" of Colossians and Galatians are associated, in the new covenant, with going back to law-keeping, and Richard Peifer has an article on our identity and the implications of being a child of God. Dale Ratzlaff has an article, and Carolyn Macomber and Chris Lee each have columns. It's online here: http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2010/2/proclamation2010.html Colleen |

Great issue!!! I loved both articles on the scapegoat. I was impacted by one of the points that Dale made. If there were 2 goats that were brought before the High Priest to be offered as a sin offering, then that means that either goat could have been chosen to be the scapegoat or the sin offering. If those goats were "interchangeable", then that would mean that Christ and Satan would have to be "interchangeable" as well (if you believe that the scapegoat represents satan). Thanks to all the contributers who take the time to write these articles!!! vivian |

I love this issue (well I love all of them) and I can't wait to get my hard copy. The new prez Ted Wilson has really "thrown down the gauntlet". Chris Lee and I were discussing the tenor of the new administration and I admitted to hoping for a more liberal president and he stated he was glad, and I might add I have changed my opinion and agree with him, that he is glad that such a clear, traditional SDA president is in place. People inside and outside the SDA church MUST face that if Wilson's words are true then the SDA church is separate from all other churches. I did a non-scientific count of the biblical references to the references to and from EGW and there were just as many references from her as from the Bible I don't have the points that Colleen raised about Wilson's speech directly in front of me so forgive me if there is repitition. Here are a few quotes with my questions to SDAs " We must be vigilant to test all things according to the supreme authority of God’s Word AND the council [sic] with which we have been blessed in the writings of Ellen G. White." My question for SDAS where in the Bible does it say we must test things all things against the counsel of the blessed EGW? "Accept the Spirit of Prophecy as one of the greatest gifts given to the Seventh-day Adventist Church not just for the past but even more importantly for the future...the Spirit of Prophecy provides clear, inspired council [sic] to aid our application of Bible truth [. . . .] It is a reliable theological expositor of the Scriptures." Let me repeat a conviction of mine, there is nothing antiquated or archaic about the Spirit of Prophecy; it is for today and until Christ returns SDAs Your president has laid down the gauntlet and points to EGW’s works as the SOP—and you must call ALL of her writings the SOP-you cannot pick and choose. Are you prepared to say that she is 1 more important for the future than she has been in the past and 2 that her confusing statements provide clear counsel and exposition and 3 are you willing to follow president Wilson’s command to ACCEPT the SOP? Wilson also said "In the book Christ’s Object Lessons we read of Christ’s wish for His people,(NEXT SLIDE) "Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. It is the privilege of every Christian not only to look for but HASTEN the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. SDAs Where in the Bible say that we must be perfect before Christ comes back? I praise God that His truth always comes out and that people within and without will see what the SDA church is about EGW and the "great controversy theme" and not about the gospel of grace in our risen Savior (not merely example) Jesus Christ Enoch |

By the way--the major articles in Proclamation had some bad characters in them making it hard to read. I just wanted you to know that we've fixed the problem...it should be much easier to read now. Anyone notice the letters? We've been getting laughs over the "Christian goody knees" during the proofing process... Colleen |
