Adventists claim to be God's remnant of the last days because they obediently keep all 10 commandments, while the other Christian churches have fallen in apostasy. Who wouldn't want to be apart of this 'elite' religion? A remnant, you say? Can they not see the speck of dirt in their own eyes? 1 You shall have no other gods before me What about Ellen White, most will not baptize unless you accept her as a true prophet. Her writings are often the final say, even when they contradict the Bible. Sabbath, one cannot be saved without Sabbath-keeping, that is once you've been guilted or decieved by their seminars anyway. Health message you say? Ellen White wrote that meat-eaters will not be 'translated' in the lasts days. Accepting and following these 3 things are of the core of Adventism, thus a salvation issue for the most part. I thought Jesus - the Holy Spirit were what binded us into God's grace. 2 You shall not make unto yourself any graven images What about the many, many graven images of Ellen White? The GC in Silver Spring, MD has practically a whole wing set aside in homage to Mrs. White, and her writings. She can also be found in Adventist Hospitals, bookstores, academies, colleges and Adventist historical museums as well. 3 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain Well I'm not sure about that one but, what about stamping God's name on all your visions and writings as to make them seem authentic? That sure seems vain to me. 4 Rember the Sabbath day, keep it holy Some did, some didn't. Many I know kept what you call a 'Burger King' sabbath. Have it your way. Was God not specific to the Isrealites on how the Sabbath was to be kept? 5 Honor you Father and your Mother Well in my personal experience, I was told to limit myself and my children's time with my parents, afterall they weren't in the 'truth'. They couldn't be trusted to give solid advice either, because of this. Even though they were Bible-believing Evangelical Christians. It put a strain on our relationship. I was told not to trust these deciever's on Biblical matters, because they refused to accept Adventism. 6 You shall not murder I've never heard the Church or GC come out with an official statement on abortion, have you? My church is pro-life and is very upfront about it. I guess as long as they keep the sabbath, abortion need not be an issue? 7 You shall not commit adultry Well,if all of the non-adventist churches are fallen into apostasy, why, why are adventist 'jumping in to bed with them'? They use our facilities and churches to hold their seminars and workshops. In Colorado they rented out other non-adventist churches to have sabbath services in. weird 8 You shall not steal Do I even need to comment? It has been proven time and time again Ellen White stole many, many of her writings and ideas from other people. It's like beatin a dead horse, you know it happened, accept the truth and move forward already. 9 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor What about Ellen White's many judgements and false visions and claims against former associates, friends, and business partners? Most all proved to be untrue and threatening and vindictive. 10 You shall not covet your neighbor's house All I can say is money, money, money. Look at the Adventist system as a whole, the way they run their schools, hospitals, churches, and other on the side businesses. They are corrupt and consumed with the green eyed monster, it's about greed. It adds up to a whole lota non-sense and cognitive dissance. I'm so happy to be in a non-exclusive bible-beliving church. Many, many of the going-ons in Adventism confuse me, I'm so glad I don't need them to be saved. |

Hi Cortney, I would like to add to #3 "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain" I believe that they take Jesus' name in vain in order to support their belief in EGW's Investigative Judgment. You hear all adventists say that "Jesus is my Savior." But is He really? Their "savior" didn't complete atonement on the cross. Their "savior" can't deal with sin completely and their sin has to be placed on Satan before he's thrown into the lake of fire. Their "savior" hasn't blotted out their sins. When a person's belief about Christ is only used to support their belief in Ellen as a prophet... that's when they take Christ's name in vain. vivian |

Hi Vivian, I agree with that about taking God's name in vain. The "good" sda will not curse but does not believe in Jesus completed atonement and supports egw instead of Jesus. Our awesome God completed the atonement at the cross and was resurrected. He now sits at the right hand of the Father. It was finished at the cross. Diana L |

In fact, the SDA has itself changed the second commandment. It usually goes unnoticed but the SDA has wiped a piece of second commandment! The last sentence was declared void: "For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments. " Adventists say it is because Bible later said that if the fathers eat sour grapes, it will not numb the tooth and children. Few know that the SDA as well as the RC change the command of God because that part of it was not liked. |

Hmmmmm. How do we reconcile this commandment with Ezekiel 18:20: "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." Hec |

Hec, it is the same logic by which every church do with some part of 10com. There is always some other line in scriptures to use. The RC also have many verses to support their claims as well. (Sorry for delay answer) I have RC book where RC gives Biblical verses for every main RC doctrines! It is 10 comm or it is not. Simple as that. |

The question still is: How do we reconcile this commandment with Ezekiel 18:20: "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." Hec |

oh.OK I think that we must consider 2 things: 1. context of verse (in verse where is spoken of tooth it is clear that God is giving word to that situation and not general 2. that both things can be truth, it is truth that we all suffer because of our fathers sins, of sins of our States of our City of residence... etc. and it is also truth that in front of Gods judgment we stands alone. |

Yes, Goran, I agree. We do experience suffering on account of our parents' sins: think of children of divorce, adult children of alcoholics, abuse, even being born to historic Adventist parents and growing up believing "black" is "white", so to speak... But we do not receive eternal punishment for our parents' sins. God approaches each of us with the call to admit what is true, surrender ourselves to the Lord Jesus, and be born again. We are punished for our own sin—or saved from it. We are not punished for another's. But we suffer from the circumstances other people's sins create around us. And one more thing: Adam's sin did result in the entire human race being born spiritually dead. |
